Oscars Recap 2015: The Top 16 Most Interesting Moments

The 2015 Oscars can be described as having been okay at best. I think the Golden Globes were a little bit better this year. Neil Patrick Harris did a great job though, he was funny and witty, and I love the way he talks. He has that Barney Stinson way of dragging out words or pausing to make it funny. In a room filled with entertainers, there was hardly any entertainment, I just don’t get it. Last year, Ellen did a great job and really made those jokes hers and interacted with the audience which was fun to watch. I think the show needed a little more of that spice or some dancing numbers.

This year it was all about the speeches and there were some surprises in many categories especially Best Picture. I think everyone was shocked, Birdman was a great movie, but I think most people thought Boyhood would win. Take a swig like Mr. Cumberbatch and let’s talk about what happened and discuss the most interesting moments of the evening.

1. NPH in his underwear re-enacting the infamous Birdman scene.

2. The dresses this year. My favorite had to be Rosamund Pike’s beautiful red dress with matching red shoes. Now that is hard to pull off, but she looked perfect.

3. Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s speeches for both Best Director and Best Picture. For best director he mentioned that he was wearing Keaton’s tighty-whities for good luck and best picture he made remarks about immigration and allowing everyone the same rights. Rarely do see we any Mexican artists get credit from this kind of a community and what a powerful platform to make a statement about immigration.

4. While we are on the topic WTF Sean Penn. I am sure he was joking, but his stupid comment when he announced Alejandro’s win, by saying “Who gave this son of a bitch a green card,” was stupid and ill-timed.

5. J.K Simmons won for Best Supporting Actor and I loved what he said about appreciating your loved ones. He said if you have them around, call them!

6. John Legend and Common’s performance of the song Glory from Selma. The performance was moving and had many actors in tears.

7. Jared Leto’s hair ugh… I can’t get over it. His hair is beautiful and he is a man who knows how to rock an umbrella.

8. The Grand Budapest Hotel beat out a lot of other films in four technical categories. This is rare for Wes Anderson to get so much recognition and boy was he happy.

9. Patricia Arquette’s speech for Best Supporting Actress. She made a statement about wage equality and women’s rights. You go girl!

10. The Oscar made out of Legos. And Emma Stone holding it in the audience, she is too cute!

tumblr_nk7ezcYsh51qci7ofo1_400

11. Eddie Redmayne’s acceptance speech for Best Actor. OMG how cute! He looked genuinely surprised and shocked and said that he would be the custodian of the award and that it was for everyone battling ALS.

12. Common snubbed Oprah when he won for Best Song. Seriously that was funny.

tumblr_nk8g56ezhj1sxqyhyo2_500

13. The Idina Menzel rehash of last year’s major mess up by John Travolta. Is it just me or does he look kind of creepy?

tumblr_nk7k47nrfI1tnjtx4o6_250

14. But really what was up with Lady Gaga’s gloves?? Loving the memes going around.

15. Juliane Moore’s acceptance speech was also great for Best Actress. She added some fun to it, but also raised awareness for Alzheimer’s disease and made it a heartfelt speech.

16. One of my fave moments of the night was Graham Moore’s speech for Best Adapted Screenplay. It was personal and unique and he serves as voice for everyone out there who considers themselves different. Stay weird my peeps.

The Walking Dead Recap: Season 5, Episode 8: Hostages and High Hopes

The Walking Dead Recap
Season 5, Episode 8
**SPOILER ALERT

This past week, was the mid-season finale for our beloved zombie show. Now did it live up to everyone’s expectation and were we all blown away by the surprise ending? Overall, the season started off with a bang, it was fast paced and fun to watch them get out of Terminus, to find a new place and to see them off wandering again in search of supplies and resources. Finding Beth was at the forefront of every fan’s mind and we got to find out where she was being kept and we have seen her maturation come to fruition. She started off as a sheltered farm girl, progressed to Judith’s babysitter and after hanging out with Daryl for a while, she turned into a full-fledged take no prisoners bad ass.

Then slowly, the show started to dwindle down with too many fillers and the pace slowed down a bit. That has been my biggest gripe with the show, don’t get me wrong I am a total TWD fan and I will continue to watch this to the bitter end, but I really get annoyed by so many filler moments and how situations get dragged the hell out. Regardless of my little rant, I still enjoy watching, I just hope it picks back up and the pace gets heightened a bit more when the show comes back on in February.

Let’s get to the juicy bits, and no not Bob’s leftover leg and talk about what happened.

The Walking Dead Recap: Season 5, Episode 7: Never Let Your Guard Down

The Walking Dead Recap
Season 5, Episode 7
**SPOILER ALERT

In this past week’s episode, we finally got an episode that was not solely focused on one character. At times I don’t mind those episodes, especially when we really end up getting to the root of the character, but on the other hand watching everyone together is part of the magic of the show. This one gave us a look at all the characters and where each one stands at the present moment. I found this episode to be a bit lackluster and drawn out. At the end it did pick up a bit and I am excited for the next one, but considering it was one of the last episodes it was a let down.

Let’s discuss this little gem of an episode and break it down by location.

The Walking Dead Recap: Season 5, Episode 6: Hot on the Hunt

The Walking Dead Recap
Season 5, Episode 6
**SPOILER ALERT

This past week’s episode was another one solely focused on a few members of the gang. This time, we see where Carol and Daryl took off to and how Carol came to land in the hospital where Beth is currently located. The majority of the episode was the untangling and unearthing of what both Carol and Daryl  have become. Before they met, they were each different people, Carol an abused mother, and Daryl a low-level redneck with not much to his name. Now after everything they have been through, they have both matured in different ways, becoming stronger and more empowered and most importantly their self worth has grown.

At this point in the apocalypse we see that Carol has become hardened and doesn’t believe in God much anymore, let alone humanity. This struggle of believing in yourself and the goodness of other people was the basis of the episode. At times I felt this one was a bit slower, but I am sure that these types of episodes are strategically placed in order for us to see some character growth. Especially since Carol and Daryl are two of the most popular characters at the moment.

Let’s talk about what happened this week.

The Walking Dead Recap: Season 5, Episode 5: Army of Abraham

The Walking Dead Recap
Season 5, Episode 5
**SPOILER ALERT

Sorry guys I am a little late on my recap. This past week’s episode was another one focused on the character development of one part of the group, mainly Abraham and Eugene. Thus far, all we really know about them is that they have traveled from Houston to Georgia and are on their way to Washington, where they plan on delivering Eugene who has the cure for all that is ailing the world. From day one, we have all been seriously suspicious of Eugene, he doesn’t give much info about the cure and keeps on saying it is classified information. Abraham appears to be the type of guy we can trust, he doesn’t seem like someone who would just fight for anyone. Not many have really questioned them or tried to call their bluff, I mean would you? Abraham is a force to be reckoned with and has been so set on going to Washington and really the crew hasn’t had time to dissect their story with everything that has been happening. If you remember from the Bob episode, Glenn, Maggie and Tara agreed to travel with Abraham, Eugene and Rosita to Washington and agreed the rest would catch up to them later.

Now that we got that out of the way, let’s talk about what happened.

The Walking Dead Recap: Season 5, Episode 4: Never Underestimate Beth

The Walking Dead Recap
Season 5, Episode 4
**SPOILER ALERT

Finally after all the waiting, we found out where our beloved Beth has been hidden. If you don’t remember last season she was basically kidnapped right under Daryl’s nose and we haven’t heard from her since. Some speculated that Gareth and his crew had her or maybe she was hiding in Terminus somewhere or maybe some other weird cult out there had taken her away. The point is we had no idea where she was and if she was even alive. Last year was a big change for the character of Beth, at first she was meek and barely even noticeable as Judith’s babysitter and Maggie’s sister, but with the death of her father she transformed into a true bad ass. Under the tutelage of Daryl of course she learned how to kill much more efficiently and started using her voice and coming into her own as a woman and an adult. This week’s episode only further served to build her character and show us how far she has come in the zombie apocalypse.

Ok get yourself a plate of guinea pig and let’s discuss what happened.

The Walking Dead Recap: Season 5, Episode 3: A Promise Is A Promise

The Walking Dead Recap
Season 5, Episode 3
**SPOILER ALERT

This week’s episode was fast paced and gave audiences plenty of answers. I feel like with many past seasons of TWD, we are given hints of what could or couldn’t be, but with this season they are coming right out and laying it on the table. Which I really enjoy because in the past they have dragged whole premises or issues out to the point where we are almost sick of hearing about the issue at hand. For example, when everyone was getting sick in the prison, that kept going on and on for episodes and it never really had that much value on the show. But this season, wow, the pacing is perfect, we are getting tidbits of information at the right time, not too much, not too little, just like Goldilocks and it is seamlessly working to make a pretty damn good season thus far.

Let’s discuss what went down with the good ol’ Grimes gang.
