About

My name is Melissa and I am addicted to watching television shows and movies. I grew up in the 80’s and was raised on corny shows like Different Strokes and The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and I couldn’t get enough of Pretty in Pink, The Goonies, Home Alone, etc. Yes I just referenced Home Alone, as a kid I was obsessed with that movie and probably still know every line to this day.

I love to write, so I figured I could meld my two worlds together. I have a BA in English and Art History and a Master’s in Rhetoric and Writing, yawn how boring. My love was always film and I was deterred and scared to pursue my true dream to be a movie critic. I feel that this blog can be an outlet to following my passion and hopefully entertaining and helping out TV and movie lovers figure out what they should watch.

When I came home from school, we didn’t have a computer to jump on to and watch YouTube videos or surf the web, instead I watched my daily rerun shows or pop in an a movie in the VCR. Yes the old contraptions of yester year.

Sometimes I feel like TV Mike from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. On a side note, don’t you just love it when Charlie has to burp his way down from the vortex pulling him and his grandpa up, oh how sweet, “burp Charlie burp.”

Opinions are just that, opinions, but I have always felt that it is fun and helpful to read what other people think before or after I see a movie or TV shows.

This blog is dedicated to everything I like to watch. It may not be the coolest thing out there, but I like it and I hope you enjoy my thoughts as well. I look forward to interacting and talking with my SnapCrackleWatchers out there!

My Favorite Movie: (Which is a question I always ask movie lovers) is Pulp Fiction. What’s yours?

  3. favorite movie? dear lord, that isn’t easy to answer. But if I HAD to, maybe Die Hard (1988)…or Saving Private Ryan (1998)… or perhaps Shawshank Redemption (1994)… or maybe The Great Escape (1963). On the other hand, Bridge on the River Kwai (1957), 12 Angry Men (1957) and Stalag 17 (1953) were also amazing.

Oops forgot the Star Wars trilogy, Back to the Future (1985), Indiana Jones trilogy and LOTR Trilogy.

I think I’m gonna have to abstain 🙂

  4. My favorite classic movies are Polanski’s “Chinatown”, and the “Godfather” 1 and 2, but my personal favorite, most repeat-watch movie is “High Fidelity”.

  5. Awesome blog you’ve got here! My favourite film has to be either Somewhere or The Lion King.

Oh, and I love Home Alone too! In my country, all four films are a Christmas tradition. 😀

    • Thank you! I like your blog too! Very cool. Somewhere sounds good I really need to see that! Now this is why I love blogging because I hear about movies I may have not otherwise seen. A Sofia Coppola movie that I have not seen I am disappointed with myself. Lion King you can’t go wrong, love it.

Home Alone is a classic, I especially like Part 2. 🙂

      • I love Part 2 most, too! The lady in the park with the turtledoves… awwww! Somewhere is absolutely amazing if it works for you — it’s a bit special. But my favourite Sofia film nevertheless!

    • Thank you! I think we were both looking at each other’s blogs at the same time. 🙂 Yay meeting new blog friends is always fun. Home Alone, yes we all dreamed of having the house to ourselves like Macaulay Culkin did.

  10. Like you, I am a movie and TV nut who often speaks in movie script. Love your site and had to ask if you ever watched an HBO series in the late 80s called Dream On. It was about shut who grew up in front of the TV and the show used clips from old movies and TV show to show what he was thinking . It was clever and hilarious — and sometimes a little risqué.

    • Hi Ned thanks for stopping by! No I have never seen Dream On, I feel like I heard about it back in the day, but never got a chance to catch it. I just Googled it and sounds like something I need to watch, totally looks funny! I wonder where I could find it?

      • In all seriousness my favourite movie is probably From Dusk till Dawn 🙂

Yours is a great choice, I love the soundtrack sooooo much!!

Another BIG childhood favourite of mine was Inner Space, I don’t suppose you like that too?!

      • Dusk till Dawn! That is a good one too. OMG I can’t believe I have never seen Inner Space. I just googled it that looks like a perfect 80s movie. What about Flight of the Navigator? lol

      • Lol now it’s my turn…I’ve never seen Flight of the Navigator! But I do recall my sister being very fond of that movie (and annoyed about a remake if I remember rightly….)

I don’t even know why / how I loved Inner Space so much, but I remember my dad tried recording it off the TV onto VCR for me and it all got scrambled on the video and didn’t work – and I cried!

I have it on DVD now. I never really watch it, but it just makes me laugh thinking back 😀
